OLDCASTLE TAKE THE POINTS

Oldcastle 0-17 Moylagh 1-11
The long-anticipated return to Senior Football took place in Millbrook yesterday evening (9/6/2021), with Oldcastle taking on neighbours, Moylagh in the Corn na Boinne. The Oldcastle panel was depleted from injuries and county players being ruled out, but a strong lineout was still in evidence.

It was Moylagh who took the opening point, but the reply came straight after from the boot of Ronan Maguire. Robbie Farrelly was next on the scoreboard, with Conor Hetherton and Conor McHugh working well together in midfield, Oldcastle clocking up seven in a row before Moylagh got their next point. That spurred them on, they then added three more points and a penalty in a matter of minutes to bring it back to a one-point game. A nice score from Lee Healy got Oldcastle motoring again, with the last two of the half from Robbie Farrelly the half-time score was Oldcastle 0-11 Moylagh 1-04.
Oldcastle started the better again in the second-half, with Keith Connell slotting over a nice point. Dylan Garrigan also pointed and Robbie Farrelly took points throughout, while Josh Halpin made a superb entrance to the field of play, setting up and taking a lovely score. With Oldcastle at 16 points, eight ahead of the opposition, Moylagh staged a comeback and took six points to only one from Oldcastle ahead of the final whistle, enough to make the end of the match mildly exciting while giving new Managers Jude McNabb and Michael Cantwell the ideal start.

The next match in the Corn na Boinne is away to Trim next Wednesday (16 June 2021) at 7.45pm.
