Report of the Oldcastle GFC AGM held on Friday, 8th December

The Oldcastle GFC  AGM took place this evening (8/12/2023) in the lovely surrounds of the Parish Centre. A big crowd were in attendance, and we thank you all for coming along and contributing. The meeting started with a minute’s silence for those we lost during the year, and a prayer in their honour, led by Club President Peter Galligan.

Club Secretary,  Ealma Purcell gave a comprehensive report of all club activity for 2023, followed by the Treasurer’s report from Maureen Gilsenan. A detailed breakdown of the massive amounts of money that it takes to fund and run the club, as every year, Maureen had everything detailed down to the last penny.

After many years of service in various roles, Maureen has decided to step back from the Treasurer’s position, but is happy to stay on as Assistant Treasurer to help the new person settle in. Dermot presented Maureen with a lovely Skimmia plant at the end of the meeting to thank her for all her work for the club, which is not over yet of course!

Chairperson, Dermot Monaghan had a detailed look back at his first year in the Chair, maybe not the success we wanted on the football field but still much to be positive about, and a new year and new possibilities await.

Oldcastle GFC looks forward as always with optimism: our huge Strictly Come Dancing event in February will be a great boost to our funds for a new Clubhouse, and hopefully work on that will get started in the next year or two. And as always we look forward to success on the football field in 2024!
