Long football season for Oldcastle GFC finally ended
St Peter’s, Dunboyne 5-16 Oldcastle 2-8
It’s been a long football season for Oldcastle Gfc, since the first match was played way back in February, even before the Beast from the East came in. It finally ended today (18 November 2018) however, as our U-15’s bowed out of their Autumn League at Semi-Final stage in Millbrook. The match started badly for Oldcastle: Dunboyne were 1-05 to no score up within 10 minutes. Oldcastle finally got going with a Jack Murphy free, followed by two lovely goals from Ross McCann and another Jack free to put us back level with Dunboyne. Spurred on by their very vocal supporters however, Dunboyne went up a gear and added another couple of goals and points before the break. They remained the dominant side in the second half, with the final score: Oldcastle 2-08, Dunboyne 5-16.
Well done to all the lads on a long, tough year of football, and good luck to those heading on to U-16’s and beyond. Thanks also to coaches Darren Cullen, Packie Purcell and Packie Kevin for their hard work and dedication.
