Great display by Oldcastle GFC in qualifying for the Leinster Scór Finals

Wow! We had a mad mental afternoon at the Scor Leinster Semi-Finals! It is some mad buzz when you do get involved, and huge well done to everyone in the club who have pushed this to bring us to where we are now!

So, Oldcastle GFC travelled in convoy to The Downs GAA yesterday afternoon (7/3/2020), to participate in the Leinster Gaa Scor Semi-Finals. Out first participant was Annie Galligan in Solo Singing. A beautiful performance ensued, but it just wasn’t enough at this level, where you need a Post Graduate in medieval Irish Sean Nos singing to get through! Annie was also our next entrant in the Recitation, and this time her evocation of a family hit by the famine got the judges by their heartstrings, and sees Annie into the Leinster Final!

The Oldcastle sketch act have put so much into their performance, that they were nearly disappointed to find out they won by a landslide, and go into the Leinster Final as red-hot favourites!

And then the Set Dancing! OK so there were only two entrants! But WTH! One was Bun Brosna, including Kenny Murphy, who have won multiple county and All-Ireland titles. The other was OLDCASTLE GFC! Not known in any set dancing, or indeed, ANY dancing circles at all, EVER! But these lassies, who have only just come together in the past few weeks really, put on such an amazing display, that they had the hall rocking! So Oldcastle GFC are now also in the Leinster Scor Final in Set Dancing! And with two more weeks to practise, they might yet beat Westmeath’s Kenny Murphy who has trained them to here!
