U-14’s continued their winning ways last evening
Oldcastle 5–13 St Oliver’s 2–10
The under 14’s continued their winning ways with a home win over neighbour’s,St Oliver’s in the Summer FL played in Millbrook (9 July 2015).
Oldcastle were quick out of the blocks and Joseph Lynch opened the scoring with an point. James McCluskey, who was operating in the full forward line, grabbed Oldcastle’s first goal. Eimantas Zelepugas and Darren Connell were in great form in the Oldcastle defence and not only stop the opposition attacks but starting attacks of their own and Darren Connell chipped in with a point mid way through the first half. Colin Halpin grabbed a good point which was just reward for a great first half. Colin Hawdon finished to the net for the home side’s 2nd goal. St Oliver’s grabbed a goal of their own to leave the scores at half time Oldcastle 2–10 St Oliver’s 1–5.
St Oliver’s started the second half the brightest and registered a couple of points from frees early in the half. Oldcastle’s 3rd goal was their first score of the second half. This was converted by Joseph Lynch after the ball pin balled around the St Oliver’s goal mouth. Referee Seamus O’Connor awarded St Oliver’s a penalty mid way through the second half. This was converted by Harry Ryan.
The response from Oldcastle was instant with the ball been moved straight up the field and finished to the net by Oran Mulvany. Eimantas Zelepugas, Darren Connell and Colin Halpin were to the fore in what was a good team performance.
