U-13’s through to Final!
Oldcastle 5-9 Walterstown 3-7
Walterstown came to Millbrook today with fire in their bellies and hunger in their eyes (or was it the other way round?!). They only just lost out to Oldcastle in their earlier league match, then won a 4th place play-off to get to this Semi-Final, so they were all revved up and felt they had the winning of it. Both sides went for it hammer and tongs in the first-half, with Oldcastle buoyed up by two lovely goals from Ciaran Connell. Walterstown also played well however, and Oldcastle led by just two points at the break.

The second-half was also played at a frenetic pace. Points from Oldcastle extended their lead, but Walterstown responded with a goal to bring them within two again. Rory Crawley replied with a great goal at the far end, but Walterstown once again came back with a score. Another great goal from Rory soon followed however, and the game began to slip from Walterstown’s grasp, much to the dismay of their very vocal supporters.
Oldcastle were putting in a tremendous work-rate all over the pitch, with every player contributing to a superb team performance. A final push saw some fine points taken and Rory adding another goal for a hat-trick, to leave the final score: Oldcastle: 5-09, Walterstown 3-07.
This very satisfying win sees the lads meet Donaghmore/Ashbourne in the final next Wednesday (7 November 2018) at 6.30pm in Dunganny.
