U-12’s in the Summer FL Final next Saturday in Pairc Tailteann

Oldcastle 0-22 Nobber 0-16

The under 12’s secured in a place in the summer league final with well earned victory over Nobber in the U12 Summer FL Semi Final played in Millbrook (Sunday 2nd August 2015) . Ryan Kevin opened the scoring with a well worked point. Eoin Muldoon added 2 more points. Conor Boylan and JP Purcell were doing well in defence stopping a number of chances. Ross McCann got his first score of the game following some good play by Ben Grey and Ryan Kevin. Nicole Smith was outstanding around midfield and was a real driving force by defending well, working hard and also chipping in with 3 first half points. Fionn McCabe who had just entered the field as a sub converted another chance the leave the half time score Oldcastle 14 Nobber 9.

Nicole Smith opened the second half scoring with a minute on the clock. This was followed by a Ben Grey effort, Nobber tried hard to get back into the game, but keeper Darren Kavanagh made a couple of fine saves. The wind was picking and was in Nobber’s favour,  but great work from the Oldcastle team ensured that no easy chances were converted. Ross McCann added 3 second half scores to cap a fine performance. Nobber failed to convert their final chance as a long range shot dropped short and was cleared by Ronan Halpin. When ref Seamus O’Connor blew the final whistle it was the signal for celebrations to begin as Oldcastle had secured their final place.

The final against Rathkenny is fixed for Pairc Tailteann next Saturday at 4pm.
