U-12’s book their place in the Semi-Final against Nobber on Sunday next
Oldcastle 12 St Michaels 4
Boots, water proofs, hats and umbrellas are not normally seen during the summer, but all needed in Millbrook on Sunday (26 July 2015) for the U-12 Summer FL game as the weather was more in line with the winter with wind and rain belting down.
It was a cross field wind that was of no really benefit to either side, but it was the home team that started best with a Ryan Kevin point. The first half was a tight affair with both sides having to adjust to the conditions. Nicole Smith added a another score which was followed by another Ryan Kevin point and a brace from Eoin Muldoon to leave the half time score Oldcastle 5 St Michaels 2.
Brian Hetherton opened the second half scoring for the home side. Nicole Smith was working well up and down the field and was always a threat on goals and Ben Grey was doing well in the half back line. Darren Kavanagh was once again a rock in goals for Oldcastle stopping anything that was heading his way and his kick outs were excellent. Conor Boylan was doing well in defence and even took over in goals in the closing stages. Oldcastle made a number of changes in players and positions and this included Ben Curran and Ciaran Connell taking up rolls in the forwards. Both doing very well with Ciaran Connell chipping in with 3 scores and unlucky with another when the St Michaels goalie block the ball with his face as it was heading to the net. The game finished as it started with a Ryan Kevin score to seal a great win.
This was yet another great team performance and the reward is a place in the semi finals next Sunday morning in Millbrook where Nobber will be the opposition.
