Sun shines on Millbrook for U-12s
Oldcastle 0-20 Syddan 0-3
Eoin Smith opened the scoring for the U-12s on a gloriously sunny evening in Millbrook (9 May 2016). The first half progressed at a good pace, with JP Purcell, Brian Hetherton, Tomas Kizelis, Ryan Kevin, and Ciaran Connell also finding the net, to leave it 10 – 0 at half time.
The second half kicked off with a good Rian Mulvaney score, followed by a great save by Eoin Muldoon at the other end of the pitch. Syddan then got a fine score, but Oldcastle were too strong for them. Rian added a few more, then Cameron O’Reilly blasted the back of the net. Fionn McCabe then took three in a row, Rian added another and Ciaran Connell finished the scoring with two fine points, leaving the final score Oldcastle 20, Syddan 2.
Lloyd Colleran was strong as always in defence, ably assisted by Colm Gibson and Kealan Swinburne. Darragh Brady and Mark Lynch had some great moves. Rory Crawley was also involved in most of the hard work outfield, and James Gibney, Cormac O’Connell, Proinsias O’Reilly and Daniel Smits played well. Overall this team have had a fantastic run through this Spring League, winning all but one of their matches and only losing that by 1 point, and so are well deserved of their spot in the semi-final against Nobber on Saturday week.
