Seniors through to the Corn na Boinne Semi-Final

Oldcastle 2-14 Duleek/Bellewstown 0-07

Our Senior lads finished their Corn na Boinne fixtures today in style, making it three out of three. They had the perfect start, with C.J. Healy hitting the back of the Duleek/Bellewstown net within 20 seconds! A fine point from Jason Scully was followed by a free from Robbie Farrelly and another score from CJ. Ronan Maguire took down an opposition kickout, on via Oran O’Reilly, to James Cooke, having a great game at midfield, to Lee Healy, back to James, to Keith Connell, forward via Pearse Sheridan and finally in to CJ and back to Ronan for a lovely point. It was a Paul Hennessey intercept soon after that secured the ball, and in to Robbie Farrelly who found the back of the net, leaving Oldcastle fully 2-04 to nothing up at this stage. Duleek/Bellewstown finally got off the mark, a free followed by three from play, before Jason Scully put over another super point for Oldcastle. A CJ free and Robbie point left the half-time score Oldcastle 2-07, Duleek/Bellewstown 0-05.

The second-half continued in similar fashion, the opposition never getting into the match, and Oldcastle making great use of the ball; working it in well and mostly taking their scores. A bitter wind was blowing through Millbrook, and it was a relief when the final whistle blew on a good win, on a scoreline of Oldcastle 2-14, Duleek/Bellewstown 0-07. That sees the lads through to the Semi-Final, set for Tuesday 19th March, in Millbrook.
