Oldcastle make it 2 wins from 3 outings in the Corn na Boinne

Oldcastle 2-12 Drumbaragh 0-10

Oldcastle made the short hop up the road to Drumbaragh om Wednesday evening (23/06/2021) for their third round Corn na Boinne match, and made sure of the points this time.

Oran Mulvanny dominated midfield from the start, making all the running and winning most kickouts. A good first half saw goals from Garrett O’Reilly and CJ Healy, combined with points and frees courtesy of Robbie Farrelly, leaving the lads ahead at the break on a score of Oldcastle 2-06, Drumbaragh 0-03.

A Drumbaragh ’45 saw them take the first score after the break, but Robbie Farrelly and Pearse Sheridan tacked on two more for Oldcastle. Drumbaragh battled away non-stop and had some great play, but just couldn’t match the Oldcastle scores.

A fine Louis Colleran point inspired Oldcastle, while Ronan Maguire added two super scores from way outfield near the end. A nasty knee injury saw Dylan Garrigan stretchered off, but thankfully he is fine and will make a full recovery. A solid performance saw the final score Oldcastle 2-12, Drumbaragh 0-10.

The next match sees Longwood come to Millbrook next Wednesday evening (30 June 2012).
