Louth proved too strong for Kildare in the Gerry Reilly U16 FT
Louth 3-17 Kildare 0-15
The second of the 2 Gerry Reilly U16 FT Semi-Finals played in Millbrook, Oldcastle on Saturday afternoon (23/7/22) was nip and tuck for the first quarter with the lead changing four times between the sides. Louth had the wind in their backs and soon used it to their advantage. Louth’s Adam Gilllespie was playing an outstanding game that led to their first goal finished to the Kildare net by Dylan Shelvin to lead by 1-5 to 0-6 at this stage. Kildare’s Jack Healy reduced the gap which turned out to be their last score of the half. Louth got completely on top and added 2-3to their tally before the break.
H/T: Louth 3-9 Kildare 0-7
While both sides scored 8 points apiece in the second half, it didn’t illustrate Louth’s dominance as they made multiple substitutions. In fairness Kildare never gave up despite the uphill back that faced them.
Louth now play Meath in the final.
