Great display by the Minors in their Semi-Final win over Wolfe Tones

Oldcastle 4-21 Wolfe Tones 3-8
The U17s travelled to Kilberry this evening (10/82021) to take on Wolfe Tones in the MFL Div 5 Semi-Final. Their last meeting in the league saw Wolfe Tones take the win, but Oldcastle were sure they underperformed that night, and that wrong could be righted.
They started the best tonight, with points from Paul Hennessy, Kane Cullen, Ryan Kevin, Nathan Gibney plus a goal from JP Purcell in the first half, they were nicely ahead at the break on a score of Oldcastle 1-12 Wolfe Tones 1-03.

The second half saw Oldcastle stamp their dominance on the game, Rory Crawley taking the first point, with Tomas Kizelis and Fionn McCabe taking some great scores, and Kane Cullen adding a super goal near the end.
Oldcastle’s defence was super throughout, Brian Hetherton and Ciaran Connell having great games: indeed everyone gave their best, playing with hard work and determination and showing how they play when they want! Wolfe Tones never gave up, with the last ten minutes of the match being their best, but with tempers heating up as the final whistle neared they upped the ante too much: two straight red cards the result.

A place in the final against Kilmainhamwood now awaits. These sides are always close: Kilmainhamwood were the victors in their U12 final, our lads getting revenge in the U15 final two years ago. This one could go either way, but is sure to be a great match.
