Curtain down on senior football for the lads this year
Donaghmore/Ashbourne 3-07 Oldcastle 0-08
After the bodyblow of the IFC Q/Final defeat earlier today (22/9/2024), it was hard for the lads to get motivated for this Premier Championship Semi-Final match. The opposition took the first point, with Barry Curran then pointing for Oldcastle, followed soon after by a super score from Cillian Connell. Donaghmore/Ashbourne then kicked over a fine point, followed by a free, followed by an onslaught of scores; two more goals and three points before the break leaving the half-time score Oldcastle 0-02, Donaghmore/Ashbourne 2-05.
An uphill battle faced our lads, but they kept battling, a frees from Kyle Kavanagh and Ryan Kevin starting the half, but Don/Ash kept battling also, and added a point and a goal to extend their lead. Despite their efforts, the opposition were too strong for our lads today, and ran out winners, on a final score of Oldcastle 0-08, Don/Ash 3-07.
That brings the curtain down on senior football for the lads for this year, but we look forward to the upcoming U19 competition, and to more football next year!
