Cavan storm to victory over Wicklow
Cavan 2-21 Wicklow 0-7
Cavan proved far to strong for Wicklow in the second half of the Rd.2 game in the Gerry Reilly U-16 FT played on Sunday afternoon in Millbrook, Oldcastle.
Rory Stokes opened the scoring in the 6th minute with a pointed free for Wicklow. It was ‘nip and tuck’ before Cavan scored 3 unanswered points (Oisin Pierson(2) & Cormac Timoney) to lead 0-5 to 0-2. In the 17th minute, Wicklow pulled one back with a converted free. Cavan’s, Oisin Pierson powerful shot on goal came off the post, but showed what Cavan could do. Cavan went on to build on their score by adding 3 successive points. One a brilliant move by Ronan Patterson to Cian Madden for a point.

The second half was all Cavan starting with another great save by the Wicklow ‘keeper, which he pushed out for a 45. Rurai Curran pointed the 45 and Cavan seemed to move up a gear and added 7 points by the 17th minute before Wicklow’s first score of the half.
