Oldcastle made it 3 wins from 3 outings in the IFC today (Sunday, 7 August 2016) when they defeated St Ultan’s in Pairc Tailteann. They now play Trim in Rd.4 next Saturday evening in Pairc Tailteann.

Scully and McCann goals sink St Ultan’s
OLDCASTLE followed up on wins over Walterstown and Castletown and made it three IFC victories in-a-row with an impressive performance against St Ultan’s at Pairc Tailteann on Sunday.
Poor shooting was the real issue for St Ultan’s although they hit the front after just two minutes through Ronan Breslin.
However, that was the only time St Uitan’s were in front as a hat-trick of points from the impressive Ronan Maguire settled the Oldcastle men.
St Ultan’s midfieider Gearoid Rennicks brought it back to the minimum before the floodgates opened.
A point by Alan McCann made it double scores before county minor, Jason Scully, hit three successive points. It got worse for St Ultan’s as Oldcastle corner back, Barry Curran played in Paddy Gilsenan who seemed to fall over at the crucial moment, but the ball fell to corner forward, McCann, who rifled to the net for a 1-6 to 0-3 interval advantage.
Oldcastle continued in the ascendancy after the resumption with points from Gilsenan and Scully while St Ultan’s introduced Martin Dolan and Robert Duffy for the secondhalf and a point from Breslin reduced the deflcit.
St Ultan’s were denied a goal when Conor McHugh made afine save from Gearoid Rennicks.
At the other end, Scully added a second goal for Oldcastle and that effectively finished the game as a contest.
