A great second half recovery shows potential for the U-13’s
The U-13’s took on a strong Moynalty team at Millbrook this evening (Friday, 30 September 2016) in the Div 5 Round 2 FL game. A sluggish first half performance only yielded 0-3 for the home side, while the opposition put 4-03 on the scoreboard.
The half-time talk worked wonders however, and spurred on by captain Conor Boylan, and a great early goal by Matthew Cahill, they started taking control of the game. Ryan Kevin added a point, followed by a cracking goal by Tomas Kizelis. Ciaran Connell took a fine point, and was only denied another by the goalpost. Ryan slotted over the next point, soon followed by a lovely score from Conor Boylan. At this stage everyone was working their socks off, especially in defence where Ben Curran, Lloyd Colleran and Jack Kellett kept the opposition to only two scores this half. Tomas took the final point for the home team to leave the score Oldcastle 2-08, Moynalty 5-04.
So a below-par first half scuppered the lads tonight, but a great recovery and performance in the second half shows the potential in the team.
