Football League got underway with a draw in Bellewstown

Oldcastle started the brightest in Rd.1 of the Div 2 FL played in Bellewstown (15/93/2025) with a Cormac Fagan point. Oran Mulvanny added 4 first half points and Cj Healy converted a penalty as Oldcastle looked to be taking control. Duleek Bellewstown rallied and, helped by a lucky goal and a couple of 2 pointers they made the most of their purple patch to lead at half time on a score of Oldcastle 1-8 Duleek Bellewstown 2-9.
Lee Healy opened the 2nd half scoring with a well-taken point, Ryan Kevin adding another. Duleek hit back with 2 points, one of which looked to curl off to the left of the post but the point was awarded. Paddy Rahill hit a 2 pointer but this was cancelled out by a 2 pointer for the home side. As the clock ticked down Oldcastle looked to be down and out but Dylan Garrigan grabbed the ball in midfield, twisted and turned by a number of defenders before firing the ball to the net from 20 yards out. Cj Healy converted a free to draw the game with time almost up.
Both sides had opportunities in the final minutes but neither could convert to leave the game all square on a score line of Oldcastle 2-14 Duleek Bellewstown 2-14.
