Good win for the U15’s over Dunboyne
Oldcastle 3-12 St Peter’s, Dunboyne 4-06
Another great win for the lads in Rd.6 of the U15 Championship yesterday (13/10/2024) at Millbrook, more than holding their own against the best in Meath! A free from Mark Halpin got Oldcastle on the scoreboard a few minutes in, with Callum Keatinge adding a goal soon after. Dunboyne were playing well though, and Oldcastle were ahead by just one point at the break.
The second-half was edge-of-the-seat stuff, both sides going hell for leather for the win. Alex Smith hit the back of the net a few minutes in, with Mark Halpin in flying form and sailing over points, Eoin Burns also splitting the posts. Dunboyne edged ahead by two, but our lads battled back, aided by another goal from Alex, and went ahead once more. Paul Lynch and Charlie Crawley were outstanding, but this was real team performance, every player out there doing their bit. A three-point win for Oldcastle in the end, hard-earned and well deserved, sees the lads’ well set up for their final match against Colmcilles on Sunday, 3rd November.
