The U-14 season started in style thanks to Oldcastle Credit Union Limited

Oldcastle 6-13; Drumconrath / Meath Hill 1-10

The U-14 season started in style – literally – with the presentation of a beautiful new kit from Oldcastle Credit Union, our new sponsors for this important Féile Peile na nÓg year.

Drumconrath/Meath Hill travelled to Millbrook on this misty evening (12 April 2018), but the journey was in vain, with Oldcastle the stronger throughout. The home side had 2-02 on the scoreboard before the visitors recorded a single point. Rory Crawley took the first point before Eoin Muldoon scored Oldcastle’s first goal. The next score was the result of a great ball from Cormac O’Connell in to Paul Hennessy who soloed a good 20 metres through the opposition for a cracking goal.

Colm Gibson was on target for Oldcastle’s next goal, while another good ball in from Cormac to J.P. Purcell resulted in another. All the while Ryan Kevin was easily converting frees, and Drumconrath/Meath Hill were making hard work of scoring anything.

The opposition opened the second-half with two points, before Eoin Muldoon, who was in top scoring form tonight, bagged another goal. Goalie Jamie Keatinge had more work to do in this half, and had some fine saves, including a spectacular penalty. Colm Gibson was instrumental in lots of play, while Jack Kellett was fearless going into tackles.

Welcome to our new team-members Alan Gilsenan and Sam Svensson who settled into the game well. Overall a solid display of football to start the season, and we look forward to the rescheduled first round match v Moynalty/Carnaross, which takes place in Moynalty at 7pm next Monday evening. (16 April)
