U-14’s in Cup Final on the 28th!

Our U-14’s put in a storming performance against Dunsany this evening to qualify for the U-14 Football Div 6 Cup Final. This was their fourth (away) match against this Dunsany team in three months, and with the opposition victorious in the previous matches, revenge was certainly sweet.

A solid first half display from Oldcastle saw them lead by a goal at the break, but their determination and hard work really paid off in the second half when they totally dominated the game, and restricted the opposition to just one point.

Hard work from all over the pitch ensured the win, with some super saves from goalie Matthew Cahill combined with solid defence from Cormac O’Connell and Brian Hetherton. Conor Boylan and J.P. Purcell were outstanding. Great work also from our younger players making their U-14 debuts, Rian, Rory and Paul.

The final is next Monday, 28th August, at 6.30pm in Dunganny, against  the Moynalvey/Boardsmill combination.
