U-13’s score emphatic victory
Oldcastle 11-14 Clann na nGael 3-4
Our U-13’s got their football league off to a perfect start away to Clann na nGael today (12 August) in athboy. Good performances from all the Oldcastle lads proved too much for the Athboy team, who bravely battled on but were just outclassed by the superior side. With Athboy only fielding 9 players, there was a lot of switching Oldcastle players on and off the field, but each of them worked hard when on, and the fresh legs coming on helped to wear down the opposition.
Jamie Keatinge is proving to be a reliable goalkeeper and James Gibney had a good game in defence, with Lloyd Colleran and Rory Crawley also putting in great performances. Eoin Muldoon had his golden boots on today, scoring four goals, two of them within a minute. Ryan Kevin and Paul Hennessey also contributed impressive scores, while Kane Cullen and J.P. Purcell closed down most of the Athboy efforts. Ciaran Connell was out of his normal defence role, and also impressed as a forward. Final score Oldcastle 11-14 Clann na nGael 3-04.
Our next match is at home to Ballinlough on Saturday, 26th August.
