3 in a row for U-12s
Oldcastle 0-18 Moynalty 0-10
The rain finally let-up as our U-12s took on Moynalty this evening (Friday, 8 April 2016). The first two scores were taken by midfielder J.P. Purcell, the second of which came from a clever cross-field pass from Colm Gibson.
Eoin Muldoon, Ryan Kevin then Eoin again added another 3 scores. Eoin Smith made good work of a rebound to find the net. Moynalty then took a few scores of their own to draw level at 7 each, but two good points from Brian Hetherton and another from Eoin Smith finished the first half with the score: Oldcastle 10, Moynalty 7.
Brian Hetherton started the scoring in the second half, followed by three in a row for Eoin Muldoon who had a great match. Eoin Smith then converted a free, and Cameron O’Reilly added another. Ryan Kevin added the final scores to give Oldcastle an 18 – 10 victory.
While the win never looked in doubt the team worked hard for every score, with some great skill in evidence tonight. Lloyd Colleran, Ciaran O’Connell and sub Cameron O’Reilly at full back did a huge amount of work while Rian Mulvaney put in a brilliant performance in goals. After his second-half introduction, Jack Kellett also impressed in defence.
This win leaves Oldcastle top of the league, with the next match against 2nd placed Kilmainhamwood promising to be a humdinger!
