U-14’s make it 7 wins from 7 in the FL

U-14 FL Div 4 (Round 7)
Oldcastle 2 – 16 Drumconrath\Meath Hill 5 – 6

The under 14 finished the group games of the league unbeaten following a well earned win in a game played in Meath Hill.

Despite Oldcastle on the attack from the start, it was the home side that opened the scoring with a well taken point. This was cancelled out in the second minute when Oran Mulvany put the ball over the bar. The first half was a lively affair both teams keeping the scoreboard ticking over. Cillian Connell was in fine form in the half forward line, winning a number of kick outs, helping out around midfield and also scoring a fine long range point against the wind. Joseph Lynch and Eimantas Zelephgas were solid as a rock in defence cutting out a number of attacks and Ciaran Healy making a number of saves. Drumconrath Meath Hill finished the first half strong and scored 2 goals to leave the half time score Oldcastle 0-8 Drumconrath Meath Hill 2 – 6.

In the opening minute of the second half Drumconrath Meath Hill made the most of a loose ball in Oldcastle’s small square and the ball ended in the net. Moments later Oran Mulvany rifled to the net to register Oldcastle first goal. Colin Hawdon was now on the field and was causing a lot of headaches for the home defence and chipped in with 2 long range points. The home side grabbed another goal but this was once again cancelled out by an Oran Mulvany 3 pointer. The closing stages was a tight affair with a number of chances going a begging for both sides. Darren Connell grabbed a later point to ensure that Oldcastle finished the league with 7 wins out of 7.
