U-14’s book place in the Summer FL Final on Tuesday next in Pairc Tailteann

Oldcastle 7-12 Ballinabrackey 4-12
Another great exciting night in Millbrook as the Under 14 followed the Under 12 & 16 to reach the Summer League Final.  Colin Halpin opened the scoring with a well worked score.  Despite Oldcastle having a load of the position Ballinbrackey were starting to take control and grabbed an early goal.  Colin Hawdon added a point and then finished to the net.  Louis Colleran was once again outstanding in Oldcastle defence and well supported by Darren Connell who was charging forward at every opportunity.  James McCluskey started running at the Ballinabrackey defence and was rewarded with a point.  Colin Hawdon moved from Corner forward to full forward and this result in Colin grabbing another 1 – 2 as the half drew to a close.  The final scores from both sides in the first half were goals with the Ballinabrackey goal coming as a result of some sloppy play by Oldcastle and Oldcastle’s goal coming from the boot of James McCluskey.  The margin could have been greater if Oldcastle had not shot 6 wides and also 4 balls dropping short into the goalie’s hand.

H/T: Oldcastle 3-8 Ballinabrackey 2-5

Oran Mulvanny opened the scoring with the first point of the second half and then Colin Hawdon completed his hat trick of goals.  Ballinabrackey were starting to take control as Oldcastle wasted a number of chances by looking to finish to the net instead of putting the ball over the bar.  The game became very stop start with the both teams starting to get nervous with a place in the final at stake.   Ballinabrackey were awarded a penalty and this was finished to net.  The Oldcastle lads started panicking and this allowed Ballinabrackey to hit the front by 2 points with 10 minutes to go.  Conor Hetherton and Louis Colleran were cutting out attack after attack and were keeping Oldcastle in the game.  Colin Hawdon came to the rescue with 2- 1 in the matter of minutes to put Oldcastle back in the driving seat.  Jack McDonnell Fox finished to the net in the dying minutes to secure a final place.

Oldcastle will now face Drumconrath Meath Hill on Tuesday in Pairc Tailteann.

Best for Oldcastle were Louis Colleran, Colin Hawdon and Colin Halpin.
