Dublin on fire in the second half

Dublin 5-15 Westmeath 2-10
Dublin stamped their authority in the second half of this game in Rd.2 of the Gerry Reilly U-16 FT played in Millbrook, Oldccastle on Sunday evening.
Those present were treated to a great display of football and it was only entering the 40th minute that Dublin got completely on top.
Points were exchanged in the opening minutes before Westmeath’s Aidan Keena shot to the Dublin net. Richie English pointed from a free for Dublin and Daniel Heavin responded the same way at the other end. Dublin scored 3 points without reply to have the sides level. Westmeath’s, ‘keeper made a fantastic save thwarting Dublin and which he had to do again when Dublin were leading by a point.
Dublin had led by 0-8 to 1-3 when Daniel Heavin got Westmeath’s second goal to take the lead again. Points were again exchanged just before the break.

On the re-start,  Westmeath had 2 attempts wide of the posts before Ross McGarry pointed to have the sides level. A Daniel Heavin pointed free had Westmeath in front again, but the writing was on the wall when Richie English scored a point and quickly followed with 2 goals.
While Westmeath never gave up and added 5 points to their tally, Dublin were on fire with 3 more goals before the final whistle.
Dublin have sent out a message that they are all out to re-capture the cup this year.
